Mrs Margaret Rafee

Principal

Mrs Margaret Rafee has vast teaching experience spanning close to four decades in the United Kingdom (UK) and internationally. She holds a B.Ed. (in English and French) and completed her MA in Applied Linguistics (Language in Education) at St Mary’s University College, Twickenham, UK. At the start of her career and possessing a passion for languages, she taught French in the UK and English in Sri Lanka in the early 1980s. She later lectured English at the University of West London (formerly known as Thames Valley University) and was the Language and Learning Co-ordinator at Sir Wilfrid Martineau School in Birmingham. Between 1993 and 1997, she was Head of English at Ashlyns School in Berkhamsted. Thereafter, she assumed the position of Deputy Headteacher at Bicester CommunitySchool in Oxfordshire, where she was responsible for the development of its global curriculum content and staff training as well as assuming pastoral duties.

 

In 2003, Mrs Rafee was appointed Headteacher at Alperton Community School, Wembley, UK. During her tenure there, Alperton became a Cooperative Academy, achieved the International School Award, Inclusion Quality mark and Investor in People status. She moved the school from “satisfactory” to “outstanding” in Ofsted grades (UK national inspection regime) over the ten years of her tenure.   She joined Sri KDU International School (SKIS) in August 2013 as Principal, supervising 105 teachers and overseeing the achievements of more than 1,000 students.


Mrs Frances Baxter

Vice Principal - Achievement

Mrs Frances Baxter has 12 years teaching experience both in the UK and internationally. After completing her degree in Geography at the University of Nottingham, she achieved Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through the Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) programme also at the University of Nottingham. She began teaching at a village comprehensive school in Cambridge, UK and after a year was made Head of Department and International Co-ordinator overseeing all international trips and educational enhancement. She completed a ‘Learning through International Partnerships’ postgraduate diploma, through the Middlesex University, completing research to find out how students’ education can be enriched through partnerships with other schools around the world.

 

Mrs Baxter moved to Lima, Peru in 2009, where she was Head of Geography and Head of House at a prestigious international school. She joined SKIS in August 2012 as a teacher and was promoted to Key Stage Director within the year. Currently, she is one of two Vice Principals with direct responsibility for student achievement and progress in the secondary school.

Mr Andrew Wyeth

Vice Principal - Teaching and Learning

Mr Andrew Wyeth began his teaching career in 1993 after obtaining a B.Ed. in Physical Education at St. Paul’s and St. Mary’s, Cheltenham, UK. He taught for 5 years in Surrey, UK as the Head of Department before moving on to a sports administration role as General Manager on a Sport England partnership project. From 2003 to 2008, he was appointed to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) as Director of Sport at an independent school in Surrey. Upon completing his MBA in Leadership and Management, he moved to Kuwait in August 2009 and assumed the position of the Director of Sport within the Extended Leadership Team (ELT).

 

In his current role as Vice Principal at SKIS, Mr Wyeth is responsible for Teaching and Learning as well as Continual Professional Development (CPD). Being a passionate sportsman, he was a semi-professional rugby player and coach for Rosslyn Park Football Club in London. He took up triathlon and cycling after retiring from rugby in 2003.


Mr Edward Baxter

Key Stage 5 Director | IBDP Coordinator

Mr Edward Baxter has 12 years teaching experience both in the UK and internationally.He is a Geography graduate of Reading University. Having completed his PGCE at Nottingham University in 2005, he undertook a career teaching inside and outside the classroom. After teaching Geography in mountain and coastal environments in North Wales for 3 years, he moved to Lima, Peru in 2009 where he worked at a prestigious international school as Head of MYP Humanities for another 3 years. 

Mr Baxter moved to Sri KDU International School in 2012 as a Geography teacher and after a year, was promoted to running a successful Geography Department which has seen the IGCSE and IBDP results improving each year. He continues to teach Geography and has been co-ordinating the IBDP since September 2017. He believes that international mindedness is an essential part of education and enjoys using his own experiences to help students realize their potential in their studies and future career plans.

Mrs Jasmine Sabharwal

Key Stage 4 Director

Mrs Jasmine Sabharwal has over 8 years of international teaching experience with the past 5 years in middle and senior leadership positions. After completing her B.Sc. (Hons) in Biotechnology, she continued her research and publications in Microbiology at the Asian University of Medical, Science and Technology Malaysia. She then pursued her career in stem cell studies and found her interest in education after providing seminars and talks for medical students at various Malaysian universities.

 

She joined SKIS in 2011 teaching IB and IGCSE Biology as well as Key Stage 3 Science. She was the Head of Year 11 for 2013-2014 before being promoted to the SLT as the Key Stage 4 Director. She is responsible for the academic and pastoral matters, of all Key Stage 4 students, ensuring they graduate Sri KDU International School with excellent IGCSE results.


Mrs Louise Mellor

Key Stage 3 Director

Mrs Louise Mellor graduated from Manchester Metropolitan University with a B.Sc. (Hons) in Environmental Management and gained her PGCE from Leeds University, UK. She has over 12 years of teaching experience, notably being the Head of Geography at a school in Leeds between 2003 and 2008. Mrs Mellor joined SKIS in October 2013 and assumed the position of the Head of Year from January 2014 to July 2016. She was appointed the Key Stage 3 Director from August 2016.

Dr Angela Ee De Silva

Head of Exams and Assessment | Head of Science

Dr Angela Ee De Silva has more than 8 years of teaching experience, being able to teach a vast range of year groups from KS3 to IB, mainly specializing in Biology. Prior to this, she has 6 years of postgraduate scientific research experience where she earned her Masters in Science from University Putra Malaysia. She obtained a scholarship from Monash University to pursue her PhD in Science, specializing in Plant Biotechnology. 

From her scientific training, her passion to unravel the wonder and excitement behind the deep complexities in science grew. She realized that there is a need to bring out the same if not more of that passion and perception towards science among the younger generation. Since joining SKIS, she has taken on the responsibilities as the Assistant Head of Science, Head of Year 11, Head of Science and most recently Head of Examinations and Assessment. She is the CIE Examinations Officer for the school.


Mr Brian Orr

Associate Vice Principal | Head of Art and Design Technology

Mr Brian Orr attended Nottingham Trent University where he gained a Bachelor’s degree in Design Technology with Education and then went on to complete his PGCE. He has 13 years of teaching experience across KS3 - KS5 and specializes in the field of Graphics and Resistant Materials. He taught in UK secondary schools from 2004 to 2016 and was a lead practitioner in his previous position.  

Mr Orr joined SKIS in 2016 as the Head of Art and Design Technology (DT) before moving into the role of Associate Vice Principal in September 2017. He enjoys teaching a range of year groups and is currently responsible for staff development in Sri KDU International Secondary School.

Mrs Katie Tomlinson

Head of Primary

Mrs Katie Tomlinson started her teaching career in 1995 after completing a B.Ed. (Hons) with English specialism at Liverpool Institute of Higher Education. She initially worked as a Key Stage 2 class teacher, taking responsibility for Assessment, English and Music before moving into school leadership as a Deputy Headteacher in 2002. After completing the National Professional Qualification for Headteachers in 2006, she moved into Headship and has been a Headteacher in three different Primary schools in the UK. Her previous post was Headteacher of a large Primary school in Lancashire in the North of England.

 

As the Head of Sri KDU International Primary School (SKIPS), her role is to inspire and motivate the Primary staff and children to achieve the highest educational standards. Mrs Tomlinson leads and manages all aspects of the daily routines and running of the Primary school. As an experienced Headteacher of 10 years, she is passionate about providing an environment which ensures that all children have an opportunity to discover their interests, develop their skills and become the best possible versions of themselves.


Mrs Louise Wyeth

Assistant Head of Primary - Achievement

Mrs Louise Wyeth has a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing Management from Newcastle Business School at Northumbria University in the UK. She later completed her PGCE at Nottingham University, UK. She has 8 years of teaching experience across KS1 and KS2 in British International schools and has held responsibilities including Science Coordinator, History Coordinator and Social Media Coordinator. 

Mrs Wyeth joined SKIPS in 2016 as the Science Coordinator and Year 4 teacher.She is now the Assistant Head of Primary with direct responsibility for student achievement and progress in the primary school.

Mrs Gemma Peryer

Assistant Head of Primary - Teaching and Learning

Mrs Gemma Peryer holds a Bachelor’s degree of Science with Early Childhood Studies from Swansea University, UK and later obtained a PGCE at Bath Spa University, UK. She has four years of teaching experience in primary schools in the UK and held responsibilities such as the Art and DT Coordinator.

 

After joining SKIPS in 2015, Mrs Peryer has been the Literacy Coordinator and KS2 Phase Leader.  In her current role as Assistant Head for the Primary School, she is responsible for leading the staff to achieve high quality teaching, liaising effectively with the Head of Primary to ensure consistency of approach in teaching and learning across the school.


Mr Jocelyn Gamble

Head of CCL

Mr Jocelyn Gamble holds a BA (Hons) degree in Lighting Design & Programming from the University of Manchester, UK and a PGCE (Distinction) in Secondary Education from the University of Reading. He taught for 7 years in the UK and held posts of responsibility including Head of Department and Head of Year.

 

Mr Gamble joined SKIS in August 2016 as the Head of Department for ICT and was responsible for bringing Computing as a subject to both KS3 and KS4 at IGCSE. He has also been responsible for driving the use of Google’s suite of educational tools within the school and holds the Google Level 2 educator qualification.Appointed as Head of Co-Curricular Learning (CCL) in August 2017, he has taken on the responsibility of developing the extracurricular offerings the school has within the four strands of Creative, Academic, Active and Service.

Mr Adam Peryer

Director of Sport

Mr Adam Peryer has 6 years teaching experience both in the UK and internationally. After completing his Coaching and Physical Education degree at University College Plymouth, he achieved his QTS through a PGCE from Bath Spa University. He began his teaching career at an outstanding academy in Bath before moving to a comprehensive school in Bristol. He has had experience working as a video analyst for Plymouth Argyle FC, a Youth Scout for Bristol Rovers FC and a swim coach in the US.

 

Mr Peryer joined SKIS in 2015 as Head of PE (Physical Education). This year he has taken on the additional role of Director of Sport so is also responsible for the delivery of PE in SKIPS. He is managing school sports teams in the FOBISIA, MSSD, ISAKL and KL sports league competitions.
