Awards Day: Friday 27th October 2017
It was a wonderful Friday evening when we celebrated the achievements of our students from the 2016-2017 academic year. Being an inclusive school, SKIS acknowledges both Academic Excellence and Academic Endeavour among its students. This has enabled us to achieve excellent IGCSE results in 2017.
For the first time, we had two top achievers - Low Su Yi and Ooi Ee Wern, Yvonne - who achieved an astounding 12A*s. We also had Tay Zhi Yi and Earlnie Wong who attained an amazing 12A*/As each. Apart from this, five students scored 11A*s while another 18 obtained 11A*/As.
There were 31 IGCSE Outstanding Learners who excelled in individual subjects. For the Special Awards, students were nominated from KS3 and KS4.
Here at SKISS, leadership is of paramount importance as the school develops students into ‘Tomorrow’s Leaders, Here and Now’. Our BLP teaching pedagogy encourages leadership and independent learning. The Leadership Awards were bestowed upon Wong Ke Qing and Chin Jia Hang.
Kevin Lee Guan-Mou and Ooi Ee Wern, Yvonne won the Principal’s Award for demonstrating resilience and having made rapid progress in their studies.
Genevieve Ooi Jinhui was presented with the CEO Award for her exemplary leadership in extra-curricular activities and sustained excellent academic achievement.
The prestigious Chairman’s Award went to Lee Yong for his strong involvement in community service and contributions to the school.
Awards for Student of the Year, Sportsperson and Performer of the Year were also given out during the ceremony.
Parents and family members who attended were entertained by lovely piano performances by the students themselves. I am privileged to have so many talented boys and girls studying in this school.
Congratulations and well done to all of our top achievers, nominees and winners. A big thank you to Vice Principal Mrs Frances Baxter for leading and organising this annual event together with the teachers.
